Biography
A landscape and seascape artist inspired by a lifetime of walking the valleys, moors and clifftops.
I’ve spent most of my life outdoors, both through work and play. I started work in Salcombe soon after finishing exams and eventually ended up rebuilding old houses, preferably off the beaten track. In my younger days I was a Burgh Island lifeguard and more recently a member of one of Dartmoor’s rescue teams and served as Equipment Officer and also represented the South West at national level as our regional Vehicle Officer.
I have drawn and painted all my life despite having no formal art education (maybe a couple of years of art at school), so a long, continuous and ongoing learning curve! My first commission was from a small garden shed where I lived not far from a well known south coast beach. I still paint from a ‘garden shed’ only my current incarnation is a somewhat higher spec, probably not much bigger though and I’ve long since moved from the beach..
I primarily paint landscapes in oils with the occasional watercolour and accept commissions.
