Biography
I work mostly in mixed media, reflecting a background in stitched textiles, art and design and ceramics.
Inspiration is eclectic, quite often from organic sources (no-mow May -and June- showed how beautiful are our native grasses) but may be as simple as a response to a beautiful piece of fabric. Textile pieces are dyed, printed or painted before stitching and, as with all textiles, texture is a feature.
Having initially graduated with a degree in philosophy, it was only later that I decided to further my love of textile and stitch with a City and Guilds course in Creative embroidery, on completion coming runner-up in the National Medals of Excellence. I was awarded a bursary for ‘innovative work in textiles and clay’ a piece of which was subsequently displayed in the V&A.
I have had work displayed in galleries and exhibitions in Bucks and Oxen before moving to Devon and in 2023 in Birdwood House, Totnes.
