Biography
I am a gestural painter responding to ideas and subject matter, I paint en plein air around the coast in all weathers! I draw the nude and portraits as well as sculpt from life.
I studied Fine Art at Amersham Art School and was disciplined in hours of life drawing! I have continued life drawing all my life. I taught Anatomy Life and Movement at Camden Working Men’s college for men and women in London where I also trained as a qualified Adult Art Tutor. I have taught since 1998 and continue to teach workshops and classes part time.
My work as a cartoonist for many years influenced my love of movement and ‘life’ and change in my work, often trying to depict a questioning of reality. Worlds within worlds reflect my strong inner dream life. I love colour and mark making and like to see the gestural energy in paint and mark making.
I have exhibited widely in London, Winchester, Devon and Bath. I have show at The Mall Galleries four times in the Pastel Show and once in The RBA.
