Photographer with wide interest pat a special relationship with the Coast.
My Photography interest has spanned some forty plus years and has evolved from darkroom to digital.
My years in the darkroom were an important learning curve that has helped me to pre visualise in the digital age.
I gained 2 Fellowships of the Royal Photographic Society during my Membership, from which I have now resigned, one was ‘Visual Art’ attained in 1991 and one in ‘Conceptual and Contemporary’ attained in December 2019. I was on the Distinctions Committee for several years and then became Chair of the Visual Art Genre and also sat on the Panel in the Landscape Genre. My resignation of the RPS was in September 2021.
I am an Ambassador for PermaJet (Makers of fine art printing papers), a Member (and on the selection committee) of the ‘Makers Soutwest’ formerly known as ‘Devon Guild of Craftsmen’, also a member of Arena Group of Photographers, and part of a multi disciplinary Art Co operative, ‘ARTSIX’, in the South Hams in Devon.
I exhibit widely both in the UK and overseas, some exhibitions are listed on the ‘Exhibitions’ page. Exhibitions include Meniere Gallery and Gallery OXO in London, and the Grant Bradley Gallery in Bristol. I also exhibit in various Hospitals as part of my interest in Arts in Health.
My work has been published in several magazines and books, ‘The Coast’ – a book by 5 Arena members and a personal book on my ‘Swimming with the Tide’ Portfolio as an Arena Edition. I had an 8 page article in Advanced Photographer Magazine and featured Photographer in ‘onlandscape’. I have also had a total of 6 images commended in Landscape Photographer of the Year Publications 3 of which were exhibited in the National Theatre and one in The Sunday Times. 2 images were published in RPS Portfolio 3 and a double page spread of my work and words were published in the Western Morning News. I have had several articles in the RPS Journal including a Masterclass on Long Exposure and recently an article on my 2nd Fellowship.
I have had images accepted in the Royal Photographic Society’s International Exhibition, which tours the UK, for 3 consecutive years. Also 3 consecutive years have had acceptances in the London Salon of Photography and the Edinburgh International that coincides with the Edinburgh International Festival.
I have been interviewed by BBC Radio 4 for PM on Landscape Photography.
I specialise in long exposure work at the coast but my interests are wide ranging.
