Louis is an architect by background; a passionate lifetime photographer; and a painter in the time that’s left. His specialisation is fine art landscape photography. He has exhibited widely in South West England.
Louis was educated in Architecture and Fine Arts at Cambridge University, and practised as an architect, later moving into management of large organisations. His interest in photography began as a boy; before he was 10 he had several cameras, a darkroom in his bedroom, and was published in a regional magazine. Throughout his professional career he practised and exhibited architectural photography, and alongside this developed the landscape photography which has been his passion in recent times.
In the Southwest, he has exhibited at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol and the Southwest Academy of Fine and Applied Arts (of which he is a Academician and Trustee); more locally at Birdwood House Gallery in Totnes and Harbour House Gallery in Kingsbridge.
Louis’ images are printed in the studio onto acid-free art paper, using highest quality pigment inks. This provides exceptional detail and tonal range, and an expected fade-free life of at least 150 years – as good as other forms of artist print. Some of his work can be seen on Instagram at louisvictoryarts. Prints can be ordered direct through his email address.
In his ‘spare’ time, Louis draws and paints, again mostly landscapes; and Chairs the region’s premiere crafts centre ‘MAKE Southwest’ (formerly Devon Guild of Craftsmen).
