Biography
My work is mainly acrylic on canvas or board. I interpret a subject or view from an angle, colour or mood which appeals to me. Landscapes with lone houses, churches and trees feature in my paintings together with atmosphere and sometimes mystery.
Jill studied art at Hereford School of Art, followed by St Martin’s School of Art and then Chelsea School of Art. She worked professionally as a fashion artist for Vogue, The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Mail and various glossy magazines before spending some years in Africa when she took up full time painting. In Kenya she helped start a Graphic Art Agency and also did editorial illustration for The Times of Zambia and The Star, Johannesburg.
She moved back to London and has had many exhibitions there, starting with Crane Kalman Gallery in Knightsbridge and more recently selling with the Piers Feetham and Russell Galleries in Fulham and Putney.
Three years living and painting in SW France produced much more work before a recent return to England and a final move to Noss Mayo in Devon.
Jill has paintings in collections in Africa, the USA, France and the UK and is a member of The Chelsea Arts Club and Chelsea Art Society.
