I am a long established artist and tutor working in the South Hams.   My paintings are representational and are inspired by shape, movement, colour and atmosphere, with a strong emphasis on drawing.   I love the translucency and immediacy of watercolour, the vibrant brush marks of oils and the expressive line and subtle tones of a drawing.   Commissions accepted.   I run courses, workshops and demonstrations independently and for local art societies, in watercolour, landscape painting and drawing, portraiture, life drawing and flower painting. Also painting holidays to France, lagebaston.com and Italy paintinginitaly.com in June and September.   I studied graphics and illustration and after leaving art school, I worked as an illustrator and book designer for many leading publishing houses.   For 10 years until last year, I was Artist in Residence at Ways With Words Literary Festival at Dartington.   My work is represented at The Brownston Gallery, Modbury.
