Biography

Full Biography

I am a designer maker with a sense of intrigue and fun.

My choice of material must be fascinating, unexpected, arousing the viewers sense of curiosity.

I have recently submitted a collection of jewellery pieces, a parure, to be considered for the ‘Make South West’ Summer Show so fingers crossed it will be successful.

The collection uses the cocoon of the cricula caterpillar, a native of Indonesia and naturally golden in colour, these ‘lacy caps’ are spun by the wild silkworm and generally found attached to the branches of trees.

Each piece of jewellery has been fashioned using silk thread and gold-coloured findings allowing the wearer to engage with the wonders of the natural world.

Paper is my particular passion.

I am obsessed with its simplicity, texture, and colour.

It’s ability to be manipulated, folded, collaged and painted form the basis of my current experimental work.

Japanese papers, heritage French inks and the historic technique of modular origami combined with precious metals and findings are the focus of this new work.
