Biography
Textile Artist. Hand embroidery and needle lace.
I have been designing and making lace for over 30 years, and a stitcher for as long as I can remember.
Inspired by the natural world – using the shapes and textures of landscapes, and the delicacy of flowers.
Recent work illustrates my love of Italy. The colours and shapes of the Italian landscape, both rural and urban scenes provide me with a full range of creative options. The patterns of the vineyards across the rolling hills and the shapes of the Italian buildings as you look up into the sky are both mesmerising.
I like to combine a range of embroidery stitches with needlelace to achieve a three-dimensional quality.
Materials used include silk, linen, cotton, glass beads, copper wire, Nuno felt and hand dyed fabrics.
